2020 was a watershed year in the life of our church. We had an opportunity to see God move in miraculous ways, both big and small. There is no way to capture fully all that we saw God do, but we hope the highlights below will encourage you as we get ready for the Lord to do more in us, through us, and around us in 2021.
From new initiatives to our regular ministry programs, we saw the Lord bring revival to people and places. In fact, we had over 500 revive stories – testimonies of life transformation – submitted throughout the year. You will see some of these stories throughout this page, like this one below:
In 2019, our vision team sensed the Lord leading us to a place of revival. On September 20, 2020 we officially became Revive Church! As part of this change, we were able to engage many of our people in our mission to Live and Love Like Jesus Right Where You Are through designing our new logo and restoring our lobby and bathrooms, which included: over 65 volunteers, over 400 volunteer hours, and over $10,000 of donated materials.
As part of the vision God laid out for us and before we encountered the global pandemic, He put in motion the financial miracles that allowed us to sell 25 acres of land on Indiana Avenue and receive two large gifts valued over 4 million dollars. As a result, we were able to pay off our mortgage and purchase the entire shopping center outright with no debt.
Owning the shopping center debt-free has put us in a position to transform the center into a Bridge that will revive our area and connect people to Jesus. Through the Bridge, we will be able to create opportunities to bring hope and the love of Jesus to struggling families across our church and community.
In 2020, we formally launched our benevolence fund. Our people contributed almost $100,000! This fund has provided direct and immediate financial relief to help dozens of families and individuals with housing, medical, and food expenses.
Our local partners also saw an increase in the number of families they support:
Our commitment to serve vulnerable families extends across the globe where the need is most dire. We are grateful to our global partners:
2020 was obviously a difficult year for so many and churches were not immune to those challenges. However, 2020 produced many meaningful moments where God’s grace permeated Revive Church and created opportunities to plant seeds of revival. Here are some additional highlights from the year:
